Visitor's
Information
The
University can be reached by public transport from either the international
airport (Franz-Josef-Strauß) or the central railway station (Hauptbahnhof).
From the airport take the S8 and exit at "Ostbahnhof". Now, take the underground
line U5 in direction to "Neuperlach Süd" and exit there
(Neuperlach-Süd is the final station of this line). Visitors arriving
at the central railway station should take underground line U5, too, and
exit at "Neuperlach Süd" as well. Now, take bus line 217 in direction
to "Unterhaching" and exit at bus stop "Universitätsstraße". You
just have 20 metres left before you will reach the main entrance of the
University. The guards have their small building near there. Shop up at the
guards to received your permission to enter the University district. Go
straight-on and follow the main street (approx. 400 metres) until you can
see the signs "Geodätische Messkuppel" and "Schwimmbad" on your right.
Turn right into the lane and follow it until the tennis courts appear. The
Institute's observatory (building 62) is on your right.
Since
the Institute is fragmented into three parts, it should be noticed that the
person you might want to meet could also be encountered either in building 41/100,
a tall yellow building (Institute's staff has its bureaus at the very top of this building in the
6th floor) or in its neighbour building 42. |
